Okay, let's talk about the opening scene. I saw the first three seconds and my hand was already reaching for the remote like it had a mind of its own. I skipped that whole part and I do not feel bad about it. Sorry, but no thank you.

But once I gave the movie a real chance, wow. The first half is just perfect. So much tension, I did not even want to blink in case I missed something. And here's the thing, the second half is also perfect, just in a different way. It's not as intense as the first half, it doesn't have that same crazy tension, but that doesn't make it worse. It's just perfect on its own terms. It fits exactly where it needs to and it's done so well that it works completely. Different kind of perfect, still perfect.

And Jake Gyllenhaal? This man went crazy in this movie, in the best way. His acting was so good it almost felt unfair to the other actors. He was that good. He should be in more movies like this, it's clearly his thing.

The ending, though, I have some questions. It was a little strange and left me thinking "wait, that's it?" But even with the weird feeling, I still liked it. It didn't try to make me feel good, it just went for something strange, and I respect that.

Overall: this movie is now one of my top 4 favorites of all time. Amazing acting, scary opening scene, weird but great ending, full 5 stars, no debate.

Worum geht’s?
