Okay, Everest was REALLY good. Zero boring moments, the tension and emotion were there the whole time. And that ending?? Absolutely wrecked me.
Jake Gyllenhaal's character was so cool, but what a huge waste of a talented actor. He should've gotten way more screen time. There's this part where he summits and literally just touches the tip of the mountain, and it's the most beautiful shot ever.
Also, how the hell do you decide to climb Mount Everest while your wife is pregnant?? Like what were you thinking? I still can't wrap my head around that one.
Still, huge respect to anyone brave enough to do something like this. My heart goes out to everyone who never made it home. It's a movie, but these were real people, and that makes it hit so much harder.
